Syllabus
Course Overview:
I am thrilled to welcome you to an on-line version of Teachings and Doctrines of the Book of Mormon. It is one of the four cornerstone classes that all young single adults are asked to complete. This particular course is designed to help students use a different approach to studying the Book of Mormon: instead of studying the book sequentially (in order); we will study the book topically. The lessons found in this course focus on prominent doctrinal themes emphasized by the inspired authors of the Book of Mormon. We will focus on three main themes:
- What the Book of Mormon adds to our understanding of Christ
- The Book of Mormon was written for our day and addresses the problems we face today
- The plain and precious truths lost from the Bible and restored by the Book of Mormon

Class Details:
This is an asynchronous (watch anytime you like) class. Videos will be posted once or twice a week. You may watch them at any time and in any order you like. To deepen your understanding, you are sincerely encouraged to participate and share your thoughts; though not requred to do so. Please share your own insights either (1) with Brother Dunford, (2) with the class, or (3) with someone within your own circle. To share with the class, we will use GroupMe. Sign up for GroupMe here.
Permission to offer digital classes like this are experimental. I have been asked to track who is watching. Therefore, classes will only be made available to those who join the class. Do so here. Once you have joined, you will have full access to each video. Anyone, of any age, can join the class.
To Receive Credit:
- Watch 14 of the videos posted.
- Read something of your choice that will improve your understanding of and your appreciation of a topic associated with the Book of Mormon. It should be require approxamately 30 minutes per week. Please send me a summary at the end of the class.
- Complete an Elevate Learning Option.
